ASP Heritage Fund grant
The Verde Valley Trail Fund has been awarded a $120,000 ASP Heritage Fund grant in the Non-Motorized Trails category for the Verde Valley Circle Trail Segment 8! With an additional match of $63,180, the total project funding is an impressive $183,180.
These Heritage funds, along with other fundraising efforts, will be used to complete the Copper Chief Trail and begin the Quail Spring Trail. The Copper Chief Trail is a 10-mile and Quail Spring Trail is a 5-mile multi-use, non-motorized recreational trail, both part of Segment 8 of the Verde Valley Circle Trail in the Prescott National Forest between Cottonwood and Camp Verde.
In partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, the VVTF will manage the funding of professional trail builders and youth/veteran conservation corps crews. The Forest Service will oversee the on-the-ground field work to complete construction, using a mix of mechanized and manual labor by CC members and volunteers.
